From Punjab to the World: My Travel Origin Story
There’s a Punjabi proverb that goes, “Jithe marzi jao, Punjab ch atthe hi rahoge.” Roughly translated, it means, “Wherever you go, you remain in Punjab at heart.” My journey from the vibrant fields of Punjab to the bustling streets of New York, the serene lakes of Canada, and the rich cultures of countless countries worldwide stands testament to this age-old saying.
I was born in a quaint village in Punjab where the morning air was filled with the sounds of Gurbani from the nearby Gurudwara and the scent of freshly made parathas. While this serene environment shaped much of my childhood, there was always a burning desire in me to explore the vastness of the world. But, where did this urge originate?
As a child, I would often sit with my grandfather under our robust mango tree. He was a wonderful storyteller. With every tale he narrated about his adventures in Delhi, Shimla, and sometimes his dream to see the Eiffel Tower or walk the streets of London, a seed was sown in my young heart.
Growing up, my family did travel within India, especially during the festive seasons. I fondly remember our trips to Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple in Amritsar, and the bustling markets of Delhi. These journeys, although limited, gave me a glimpse into the diversity that exists within our own country.
Years passed, and I moved to the USA for higher education. This was my first international journey, and what an experience it was! From adjusting to the fast-paced life of New York City to understanding the myriad of cultures, it was both a challenge and an adventure. It was here that my passion for traveling transformed into the idea of vlogging. Why not share my adventures, my learnings, and my experiences with the world?
‘Punjabi Travel’ isn’t just a vlog; it’s a canvas of my memories, my explorations, and my deep-rooted love for my culture. With every place I visit, I carry a piece of Punjab with me, be it in the form of the music I listen to, the food I crave, or the stories I’ve grown up with.
